This isn't unusual; it's actually the format Google typically follows for end-of-life devices now. When the standard three-year software update commitment ends for flagship Pixels, the fall date usually (and unfortunately) lines up very closely with the Android release schedule, meaning they get left behind just as a new release is landing. Pixels get the same promise for security patches as OS updates, meaning they get updated to this a brand new version basically as support is ending.
Google Releases Android Security Patch for June 2019 with 22 Security Fixes
This release fixes the compatibility issue with thecom.google.android.gms:play-services-awareness:17.0.0 release described inthe July 02, 2019 release note. The workaround of using thepre-Jetpack com.google.android.gms:play-services-awareness:16.0.0 is nolonger necessary. Thecom.google.android.gms:play-services-awareness:**17.0.0** release should notbe used.
The new release brings with it the May 2019 security patches (someone should let OnePlus know that it's mid-June, perhaps), the famous unnamed "general bug fixes and improvements", but also better audio quality during phone calls, optimized touch sensitivity for the screen and better compatibility with third-party USB-C headphones. Finally, an issue which made the pop-up camera open for an incoming video call even if the screen is off or locked has been fixed.
Kaspersky has fixed a security issue found in Kaspersky Endpoint Security version 11.0.1 that could potentially allow third-parties to locally execute arbitrary code with user permissions and without privilege elevation. This issue was classified as DLL hijacking bug. The security fix was made in the updated version Kaspersky Endpoint Security 11.1 available since March 13th 2019.
Kaspersky Lab has fixed a security issue CVE-2019-8285 in its products that could potentially allow third-parties to remotely execute arbitrary code on a user's PC with system privileges. The security fix was deployed to Kaspersky Lab customers on 4th April, 2019 through a product update.
But there's another reason why software upgrades are so critical: security. Updates typically include bug fixes and security patches, so it's a good idea to install them soon after they become available. In addition to offering four years of Android OS upgrades, Samsung will also provide five years of security updates for the Galaxy S21 and later. The company also rolls out periodic security updates for older devices, including those that are no longer upgradable to new Android versions.
Xiaomi Mi A3 is the only device in the A-series lineup with active security support. The device has been receiving monthly security patch updates for the past few months after it elapsed Android OS support with an upgrade to Android 11. However, the security patch will soon stop seeding as the device nears EOS (end-of-support).
Xiaomi is compelled by the Android One policy to deliver two Android OS upgrades and three years of security patch support to the Mi A3. The device has already received two OS upgrades, and there are only few months left on its security support, given it was released in July 2019. With the Xiaomi Mi A3 June 2022 security patch now available, the device has one month of support left.
The Apache ZooKeeper community supports two release branches at a time: stable and current. The stable version of ZooKeeper is 3.7.x and the current version is 3.8.x. Once a new minor version is released, the stable version is expected to be decommissioned soon and in approximately half a year will be announced as End-of-Life. During the half year grace period only security and critical fixes are expected to be released for the version. After EoL is announced no further patches are provided by the community. All ZooKeeper releases will remain accessible from the official Apache Archives.
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) this week pulled Microsoft's fix for the bug CVE-2022-26925 from its list of known exploited vulnerabilities that federal agencies must patch within a given timeframe.
Samsung begins delivering the February 2023 Android security patch update for the LTE version of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones with a build version ending with GWB1. 2ff7e9595c
